Yoga breathing and movement can assist to regulate hormones and move waste that has accumulated in the intestines. All of this contributes to skin that is healthier, happier, and more radiant.

Tadasana Or Mountain Pose

  • Engage your thighs and press the soles of your feet into the floor, bringing them inward and upward.
  • Draw your belly button in and lengthen your tailbone toward the floor.
  • Draw your shoulders back and down while keeping your chin parallel to the mat.
  • Relax your eyes and throat, and hang your arms beside your torso.
  • Optional: Raise your hands in front of your chest in a praying pose.
  • Please close your eyes.
  • Deeply inhale and exhale for 5 breaths.

Uttanasana Or Standing Forward Fold

Reversals are one of the most effective workouts for increasing blood flow to the face and oxygen delivery to skin cells. If I don’t have time for a complete yoga session, I take at least five minutes to flip upside down—anti-gravity, it’s anti-aging, and gives the skin a healthy shine.

Standing Forward Fold Instructions –

  • Mountain Pose Pose with your hands on your hips.
  • Exhale slowly and lean forward from the hips (not your waist)
  • Bend your knees as far as you need to alleviate ease lower back tightness.
  • Allow your head to dangle low.
  • Bring your palms to rest on the floor or against the back of your ankles if feasible; otherwise, cross your arms in front of you, gripping your elbows.
  • Lift and stretch your body slightly with each inhale. Take care not to round your back.
  • Deeply inhale and exhale for 5 breaths.

Parivrtta Sukhasana Or Simple Seated Twist

Skin health is dependent on a healthy stomach. Toxins that are not eliminated from the body frequently accumulate in adipose fat tissue and the skin, causing acne, discolouration, and premature ageing. Parivrtta sukhasana is a mild sitting twist that aids digestion and toxin elimination by enhancing circulation and energy to the stomach and liver, small intestine and large intestine.

Basic Seated Twist Instructions –

  • Sit in a cross-legged stance on the floor (if your hips are tight, you may need a block)
  • Align your head, neck, and spine, and extend your tailbone toward the ground.
  • Put your right hand on the floor behind you.
  • Put your left hand on the outside of your right thigh.
  • Exhale by gradually twisting to the right and looking over your right shoulder.
  • Stretch your spine with each inhalation and twist more deeply with each exhalation.
  • Repeat for 5 breaths, then swap sides.

Matsyasana Or Fish Pose

Matsyasana, or fish position, is another yoga practise for improved skin. Fish pose helps drain your thyroid and parathyroid glands by gently extending the neck muscles, keeping hormones – and hormone-related skin issues – in balance. Matsyasana also contains powerful anti-aging properties. This posture stretches the muscles of the face and throat, making it one of the best exercises for reducing the appearance of a double chin.

Fish Pose Instructions –

  • Lie on your back with your legs bent and your feet flat on the floor to do the Fish Pose.
  • Raise your hips and tuck your hands, palms down, beneath your buttocks.
  • Tighten your forearms and elbows against your body.
  • Press your forearms and elbows into the floor and gradually arch your back to pull your body up and away from the floor on your inhale.
  • Firm your shoulder blades and elevate your chest higher to lengthen your spine.
  • Tilt your head back, allowing the top of your head to rest on the floor.
  • Maintain the vigour of your legs.
  • Take 5 deep breaths in and out.

Bhujangasana Or Cobra

One of the most common causes of skin problems is stress. Emotional stress has a significant impact on your hormones and skin. When you live in harmony with your work, friends, and obligations, you eliminate stress and allow your skin to glow. By expanding your lungs and revitalising your body, cobra stance helps alleviate tension, stress, and weariness.
